Hyde Park Trials 1930s

Footage from the Hyde Park trials in 1932. These trials were organised by the ISDS and held annually in the Whitsun Bank Holiday.  It is not an International trial, the competitors were invited if they had been successful in the previous year. They were held in the 1930s, the 1950s and the 1960s. They were sponsored by the Daily Express so were known as the Daily Express trials. Some years attracted an audience of 200,000. The handler is Alex Millar from Newmilns in Scotland. He was over 6 foot tall. He was the first competitor to go to the post at the first ISDS International that was held in 1906. Here, he is running Mirk 836 with whom he won the Scottish National in 1928 and 1929. He also ran Mirk in the brace with Ben 891, they won the International Brace three times (1929, 1931 & 1932) and the Scottish Brace in 1932. Alex Millar won many other titles with other dogs.
